About Vincent

Jiva Yoga founder, Vincent Tam, has been studying yoga and the ancient Chinese martial and meditative discipline, Qi Gong, since 1992, and has been teaching yoga since 1995. It was while he was studying Tibetan Buddhist meditation, at the Kopan Monastery in Nepal, that Vincent was asked to teach his first yoga class.

That early success inspired Vincent to further his yoga practice at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania, USA (July/August 2000) where he immersed himself fully in yoga and the yogic way of living. This finally gave Vincent the confidence and depth of understanding to teach yoga fulltime.

Vincent, a graduate from the Yoga Arts of Australia, has since studied with some of the world's leading yogis and Qi Gong masters, including Simon-Borg Oliver, Louisa Sears, Donnar Farhi, Rodney Yee, Chang Yun Fang and Mantak Chia. He is also an Anusara Inspired teacher, having studied Anusara Yoga intensively from the founder John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh and Amy Ippoliti.

Vincent's own teaching is distilled from his total experience of the different yoga schools as well as of Qi Gong traditions. His teaching harmonises flowing movement-based practice (vinyasa) with postures (asana) that are held for extended periods.
